Hello all,
Normally I fundraise for Rannerdale Veterans' Hospital, but in light of recent events I thought I'd combine a bit of business with pleasure.
I have an old horn that fell apart during an Ellerslie Flower Show gig, right on stage, and I haven't had use for it since.
As a professional horn player in the Christchurch Symphony I quickly got another, but this one has been sitting around for a long time!
I've always said I'd do something to it, but now seems so much more appropriate. I've listed it on TradeMe with the intention to raise funds for the relief efforts by acting out a boyhood dream.
A long time ago I watched an episode of M*A*S*H where in order to stop MJR Burns from practicing his Horn they ran it over with a jeep; I've always wanted a Jeep ever since I saw that! And now the dream can become a reality. I'm intending to do exactly the same with mine, film it and put it on Youtube along with footage of the handing over of the winning bid to the charity of the winner's choice. Andy, if you could film this in HD I'd be most grateful!
I've been filming my relief efforts for the earthquake disaster as proof of where people's donations go and this would be treated the same way as proof of honesty. For Example: HERE and

PACIFIC OCEAN (March 1, 2011) An unarmed Trident II D5 missile launches from the Ohio-class fleet ballistic-missile submarine USS Nevada (SSBN 733) off the coast of Southern California. The test launch was part of the U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs demonstration and shakedown operation certification process. The successful launch certified the readiness of an SSBN crew and the operational performance of the submarine's strategic weapons system before returning to operational availability. Remember what Congress did for incandescent light bulbs? Yeah, they 'outlawed' them in favor of those expensive mercury-filled curly-q things you cannot see by. This was laughingly called the "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007."
Remember what Congress just did for food? Yeah, they 'outlawed' private home gardens and non-GMO seeds with their hilarious "Food Safety Modernization Act."
Well, now they are going to do this for our coinage!!!!!
- Once upon a time, coins were made of gold, silver and copper. No kidding, I am NOT making this up!
Since no one anymore learns of Rome's decline in terms of its debasement of the silver content of the Roman Denarius...in no small part thanks to Jimmuh Carter's implementation of the Department of Education that has since ensured that graduates of government-run schools are as dumb as possible, putting sacks of wet hammers to shame BTW...we can expect (a) no one to have heard of, much less understand, the import of the "Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-302)" or (b) to notice that the US Mint has not sold one silver coin so far in March 2011.
- Our Gooberment is studying coinage materials based upon brass, steel, iron, or tungsten. Yay! Huzzah! Why not just 'outlaw' silver coins? Besides, we have all these prettily-engraved FRN's (Federal Reserve Notes) you can use instead! ....in your fireplace, or in the bathroom, for example!

Video: Gas Pipe Line under the Fens
An extract from a BFI Classic Industrial Film about laying a gas pipeline under the Norfolk countryside.
This striking documentary focuses on the construction of the hidden pipeline for North Sea gas lurking under the picturesque Norfolk fenland. 'Pipeline Through the Fens' was filmed during the 12 weeks in 1968 it took to lay 43 miles of pipeline under the county.
