I have a question.
Hiroshima 1945, after the atomic bomb.
Otsuchi 2011, following earthquake and tsunami.
What the hell are those arches made of?

SAY vs. DO...........from Rico
We have become, instead of "the land of the free" the land of "do as I say, but not as I do" (at least according to our self-annointed political uber-betters.
But, instead of waxing on about the philosophical differences between freedom and individuality vs. Marxist group-think, I have a stellar example of the HUGE dichotomy between what is SAID and what is DONE, and a tangible one at that!
- It is ALWAYS wiser to watch what these jokers DO and pretty much ignore what they SAY (since they are all congenital liars anyway).
Six months into 2011, the US Mints has announced it will begin selling 2011 Silver Eagle (1oz) coins starting noon tomorrow. Here is the dichotomy:
Silver closed on the NYMEX/Comex "spot" markets today at $34.78/oz.
The Mint will be selling their 1oz silver coins at the low-low-low fire sale price of $59.95!
- Such a deal! Oy vey!!
But it gets better. Consider that it will take almost 60 paper Federal Reserve Notes (a.k.a. Greenbacks, US Dollars) to buy one of these coins bearing a 'face value' of ONE DOLLAR. Go figure that one out.
- Must be easier than printing 1/60th of a dollar on the paper confetti laughingly referred to as US Dollar bills....and, since the scam of tanking the purchasing power of the Dollar shows no sign of ending what would be the point of adding zeroes to the dies on our silver coins? I doubt the Mint could keep up with the Fed's printing presses.
This is unraveling fast. Here I had just become 'used' to considering my $1 silver coins as $50-Dollar pieces, and now they are $60-Dollar pieces while the Greenback is fast approaching the value of toilet tissue!
- This is a perfect example of the inflation that we do not have...................

Rubes............by Dan Friedman
If you still get your news from the trained seals of the left-leaning lamestream media then you’re to be excused if you haven’t heard about the first "World Without Terrorism Conference" in – wait for it – Tehran over the weekend. Curiouser still is the guest list, which included a number of prominent “US allies” who have been mega beneficiaries of American blood and treasure. As MEMRI reports, “the conferees included Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Pakistani President Asif 'Ali Zardari, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.” Andrew McCarthy also has details and commentary at National Review Online.
I guess this “conference” wasn’t a big story because it creates a nasty case of dissonance in the pea-size brains of our newsmen. When everyone’s ox is gored it’s hard to find the liberal slant. First and foremost, the event highlights the utter failure of Obama’s “engagement” policy, and what a pitiful sucker the President has willfully chosen to be at America’s expense. It also turns the spotlight on the ungrateful Muslim basterds and the neocons who love them. To think, our very own spawn are betraying us even before the last American has died on their behalf. Then there are the rosy cheeks and white shoes that make up our corps of sophisticated diplomats and spooks. Portraying them as nothing more than bewildered tourists on a tour of the Kasbah is hard when your job is protecting the White House.

Amazon Terminates Associate Sales in California
And I was getting a percentage of some of those sales. From the email sent earlier:
Hello,Well, Governor Brown has signed the budget, so that's all folks: "Amazon Ends Affiliate Program in California."
For well over a decade, the Amazon Associates Program has worked with thousands of California residents. Unfortunately, a potential new law that may be signed by Governor Brown compels us to terminate this program for California-based participants. It specifically imposes the collection of taxes from consumers on sales by online retailers - including but not limited to those referred by California-based marketing affiliates like you - even if those retailers have no physical presence in the state.
We oppose this bill because it is unconstitutional and counterproductive. It is supported by big-box retailers, most of which are based outside California, that seek to harm the affiliate advertising programs of their competitors. Similar legislation in other states has led to job and income losses, and little, if any, new tax revenue. We deeply regret that we must take this action.
As a result, we will terminate contracts with all California residents that are participants in the Amazon Associates Program as of the date (if any) that the California law becomes effective.
That's gonna really hurt a lot of small business owners and folks who rely on Amazon to augment their incomes. I don't make a lot, but I like to run Amazon at the blog. It's a cool thing.
Shoot.
Taxes. One more example of why they really suck.

Is "Victory" a Dirty Word in Hebrew?..........by Dan Friedman
Both good news and bad news here. The good news is the IDF is bulking up and adjusting its combat systems and its defense doctrine to reflect the turmoil and change Israel faces in the new Middle East. (Although, not much about the long-range Cruise-like missiles Israel will need to deter a nuclear Iran.) The bad news is, as formidable and professional as Israel’s military is, as always, the political echelon’s weak leadership is responsible for the dire circumstances the military is being forced to prepare for. This escalating chase-your-tail syndrome will never cease until Israeli politicians finally let Israeli generals follow thru and win a war. df
