God and Lawn care................
GOD: "Frank, you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions, violets, milkweeds and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now. But, all I see are these green rectangles."
ST. FRANCIS:
It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers 'weeds' and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.
GOD:
Grass? But, it's so boring. It's not colorful. It doesn't attract butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms. It's sensitive to temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?
ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.
GOD:
The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.
ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it-sometimes twice a week.
GOD:
They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?
ST. FRANCIS:
Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.
GOD:
They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?
ST. FRANCIS:
No, Sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.
GOD:
Now, let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?
ST. FRANCIS:
Yes, Sir.
GOD:
These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.
ST. FRANCIS:
You aren't going to believe this, Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it, so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.
GOD:
What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. It's a natural cycle of life.
ST. FRANCIS:
You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.
GOD:
No!? What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?
ST. FRANCIS:
After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.
GOD:
And where do they get this mulch?
ST. FRANCIS:
They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.
GOD:
Enough! I don't want to think about this anymore. St. Catherine, you're in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?
ST. CATHERINE:
'Dumb and Dumber', Lord. It's a story about....
GOD: Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.

Will municipal bonds be the next headwind on the horizon for Jamie Dimon and JP Morgan?...from Mike Haltman at TPC
After what I viewed as a great performance by Jamie Dimon on Capitol Hill, is a new controversy brewing over an unpublished report on the condition of the municipal bond market as states and cities face huge future unfunded pension liabilities.
The problem may be that while the report was kept internal by the firm, at the same time JP Morgan was underwriting bonds from some of the same problem credits without disclosing the reports existence or the scope of the risks discussed within it.

IF Germany Exits the Euro...............from Rico
I've been an avid follower of Biderman for a long time now. Avuncular? Yes, but he always cuts to the chase and bypasses the baloney to get to the heart of the issue.
- This video presents a "what IF germany exits the EUro?" which is something I have been looking at for most of the last year. It would NOT be the first time the Germans went into "kesselring" mode (Stalingrad, anyone?) to try and save themselves. It would make perfect, pragmatic sense for them to 'not walk, but RUN away' from the fiasco of the EUro that everyone else seems to expect them to fund (pay for).
It was not that long ago that they converted Ostmarks from the DDR (East Germany) into Westmarks of the BRD (West Germany). Deutschmarks are eminently 'do-able' and probably would be welcomed by Germans in lieu of Euros.
- We'll see if the Warburgs and the Rothschilds can work something out......

"2016".....................from Dan Friedman
Coming to a theater near you this summer, “2016,” a major film production that extrapolates what America might look like at the end of Obama’s second term.
Watch the short trailer, followed by Dinesh D’Souza (the brilliant the author of the book the movie is based on) as he exposes the inner Obama with an intellectual scalpel.

Annals of The Obama-Controlled Media...............from Dan Friedman
[Even a news junkie like me can be taken aback (and little frightened) by the utter corruption of our media. I can’t think of anything that will come along to keep them honest now. Thank goodness, deus ex machina, alternate sources of news, information and opinion have risen to take their place. df]

NBC Nightly News Devotes Mere Seconds to First-Ever Mention of Fast and Furious
In the eighteen months since the Operation Fast & Furious investigation began, Brian Williams and NBC Nightly News have never mentioned the Department of Justice's gunwalking controversy. Every single time Mr. Holder has testified or a major development happened, NBC Nightly News ignored it. Tonight, in their first mention of the scandal--ever--NBC Nightly News and Brian Williams distorted Attorney General Eric Holder’s testimony.

EUroland? Sans soucis [no worries]..............from Rico
As EUroland takes the well-beaten path of financial suicide...try and forget Spain. Watch Italy.
Three months? Naww...Italy may have two weeks, since "it is already where Spain is heading."
Don't take it from me, but heed David Powell a Bloomberg economist:
- "Italy would probably be forced into a bailout if faced with another two weeks like the last seven days. The bad news for Italy is that their debt is already as large as Spain's may become."
But, "no worries" as they say.
- In a few weeks the deep-thinkers will have another meeting in Brussels which will once again only benefit Belgian caterers.
To cheer you up, let me share a thought by British writer A.A. Gill with you which should put the EUropean debacle into context:
- "Europe is an allegory for the ages of man. You are born Italian, relentlessly infantile and mother-obsessed. In childhood you are English: chronically shy, tongue-tied, clique-ish, and only happy kicking balls or pulling the legs off things. Teenagers are French: pretentiously philosophical, embarrassingly vain, ridiculously romantic yet simultaneously insecure. During middle-age we become either Irish and fun-loving, or Swiss and serious. Old age is German: ponderous, pompous and pedantic. And finally, we regress into being Belgian, with no idea where we are at all."

New Research: Children DO NOT Do Better in Same-Sex Parent Families
Cross-posted from American Power.
*****
It turns out that the most authoritative previous study, widely cited by the left, used unrepresentative samples, and was thus unscientific.
See the Heritage Foundation, "New Research on Children of Same-Sex Parents Suggests Differences Matter":
Two peer-reviewed articles published Sunday in a scholarly journal cast doubt on a core assumption used to advance same-sex marriage.Continue reading.
A number of studies and articles have suggested that research shows no difference in outcomes between children whose parents have same-sex relationships and their peers raised by heterosexual parents. For example, the American Psychological Association (APA) stated in 2005 that “Not a single study has found children of lesbian or gay parents to be disadvantaged in any significant respect relative to children of heterosexual parents.”
Yesterday the academic journal Social Science Research published a detailed methodological review of the research on which the APA bases its conclusion—a study that questions the validity of the “no difference” assertion. Conducted by a Louisiana State University family scholar, the article concludes:
[N]ot one of the 59 studies referenced in the 2005 APA Brief compares a large, random, representative sample of lesbian or gay parents and their children with a large, random, representative sample of married parents and their children. The available data, which are drawn primarily from small convenience samples, are insufficient to support a strong generalizable claim either way. Such a statement would not be grounded in science. To make a generalizable claim, representative, large-sample studies are needed—many of them.

No Erin Andrews DID NOT Get Breast Implants!
She's naturally hot, but that didn't stop the speculation at TMZ, the Hollywood gossip website.
See: "New Erin Andrews Bikini Pics!"
The Bleacher Reports writes:
Erin Andrews is sparking quite the debate, and it has nothing to do with where the sports reporter will land next, but everything to do with bikini pictures that have surfaced.Follow the links for all of the controversy.
TMZ did some sleuthing recently and have come up with a question I am confident the entire Internet will be willing to chime in on.
Did Erin Andrews have plastic surgery to enhance a certain portion of her body?
But I can guarantee you: those puppies are real!

Fifty Year Old Manure Spreader = $1 (Washington, D.C.)..............
Fifty-year old manure spreader. Not sure of brand. Said to have been produced in Kenya. Used for a few years in Indonesia before being smuggled into the U.S. via Hawaii. Does not appear to have ever been worked hard. Apparently it was pampered by various owners over the years. It doesn't work very often, but when it does it can really sling the manure for amazing distances. I am hoping to retire the manure spreader next November.
I really don't want it hanging around getting in the way. I would prefer a foreign buyer to relocate the manure spreader out of the country. I would be willing to trade it for a nicely framed copy of the United States Constitution.
Location: Currently being stored in a big, white house in Washington, D.C.

National Security Threatened By EPA Regulations.............fom Beth
Some scary statistics have just come out from a study by the American Resources Policy Network. It seems that the EPA's obsession with 'green' is undermining our national security. For instance, did you know that the Pentagon is having to buy critical minerals from China? Our national security industry is 90 to 100% dependent on foreign suppliers for critical minerals. Forty-three percent of that coming from China?
In other words, the EPA's 'green' agenda is putting the country at risk, not to mention our soldiers who are in harms way in war zones.
Read more about it here.
