Jews, Nazis, Holocaust and anti-Semitism! (Video)...from Mike Haltman at TPC
What you don't know CAN hurt you...................from Rico
What you don't know CAN hurt you. Badly.
You may have seen vague media references to the "Fiscal Cliff" or "Taxmageddon" [read: scheduled tax increases & spending cuts for 2013] but whatever it's called, it can crush you.
Yeah, in typical form, the MSM and politicians aren't doing a very good job of 'explaining' this to anyone...in fact, the 'baffle them with bullshit' rule seems to be very much in play.
In short, everyone in the US is going to take roughly a $4,000 "hit" because of the morons in Congress.
- So, look at the attached and decide in advance what YOU will "cut" to pay for it? Groceries? Utilities? Mortgage? Car?
Ayn Rand famously remarked that 'you could ignore reality, but you could NOT ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.'
- Neither can the consequences of the political hacks that get routinely elected be ignored. Not for very much longer, anyway.

The Gaffe Romney Should Have Made.....................from Dan Friedman
If Mitt Romney had talked about Palestinians the way Obama spoke about Pennsylvanians
Posted by William A. Jacobson, July 30, 2012
Mitt Romney is under furious attack from the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, and pro-Obama media for pointing out the truth about why culture matters in the economic success of Israel.
How would these people have reacted if Romney gave this speech:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania the Palestinian Territories, and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest Middle East, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Rabin administration, and the Bush Netanyahu administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant Israeli sentiment or anti-trade Jewish sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
I suspect the reaction would have been what it now is, with absurd charges of racism and cultural insensitivity.
What a difference a continent makes.

From 4 cents to less-than-zero?.....................from Rico
Risk?
Bonds have long been considered "safe" sources of risk-free returns, and despite the massive over-indebtedness of governments, bond markets are many multiples of the size of equity markets. Trading volumes in equities are plunging, and money flows are quietly heading in the direction of bonds, reflecting the departure of retail investors from the rigged equity market casinos and the movement of institutional money into the safety of bonds.
Even the legendary Bill Gross of PIMCO says "The cult of equity may be dying...boomers can't take risk, Gen X and Y believe in Facebook but not its stock. Gen Z has no money."
But, buying bonds (governmental debt) is much like handing-over your paycheck to a drunken sailor on Saturday night on the 'promise and pinky-swear' you'll get it back.
- How many dozen times have we been told that 'Greece was fixed?' They've had two bailouts so far, and it's seriously looking like a third is needed. In fairness, other larger governments are bigger problems and just as untrustworthy and unreliable.
Looking at bonds from 30,000 feet you have to conclude that they are now "return-free risk."
Even that may very widely miss the mark. With all governments debasing their fiat currencies to cheapen their debt loads and 'juice' moribund economies, the point should not be 'return ON your money, but the return OF your money.'
- With the USD now worth about four cents, it's rather stupid to look at nominal 'gains' with the DJIA now over 13,000.....heck, it can go over 50,000 but this will be meaningless if paper becomes worth less-than-zero (think Zimbabwe).

Dirty Secret on the Right Side of the Blogosphere
A little dust-up happening today.

I think I mentioned it at the time, but I was going easy on the right-side blog wars during the GOP primaries. I'd been there done that in 2008, and losing friends during the nomination period isn't worth it. Apparently Weasel Zippers, and Ace of Spades, got into it with Pamela over the Rick Perry curriculum --- and hard feelings remain. I actually blogged the curriculum story and it checked out. See: "Is Rick 'Perry Pro-Sharia'?" Follow the links. Pamela was facing a huge backlash at the time. I had little expectation that Perry was going anywhere, and so I focused on other candidates. I wanted Michelle Bachmann, in any case, who is back in the news for seeking an investigation on Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the Obama administration. So folks know where my loyalties stand.

The London Games: To Watch or Not to Watch
My two-cents: "Enjoy the Sports, Expose the Politics: How to Enjoy the Olympics."

I do care about the Olympics. As a boy, the Olympics helped build my love of sports and the spirit of competition. I have really strong memories, especially of 1972, when so many athletes just rocked the world with their performances. I was mesmerized by it. And of course, the murder of the Israelis was my introduction to Middle East politics. I was only twelve, but the image of the Black September terrorist, looking over the ledge at the Olympic gardens, is indelible.

Newsweek Reprises the 'Wimp Factor'
An extremely cheap-ass hit job.

The 1988 presidential campaign is memorable for how the MSM attacked George H.W. Bush as a wimp. Could he beat the "wimp factor," a Newsweek cover story proclaimed in 1987? Bush went on to win the election, over a candidate who perfectly demonstrated Democrat wimpiness by staging a photo-op in a tank: "Compared with the dashing WWII pilot Bush, the little Dukakis came off a clown, and the photo op blew up in his face."

Israel Can't Wait for Romney................by Dan Friedman
War Games
If you are an Israeli military planner planning a strike against Iran, Romney’s speech last night in Jerusalem – although reassuring – changed nothing. Looking at your calendar there are two dates circled in red: the date of America’s presidential election and the date of the presidential inauguration. The two and a half months in-between are simply labeled “no man’s land.” Locked away in your safe, or encrypted on your computer, is another document, “Iran’s nuclear timeline.”
Here’s your problem. The recommendation you’ve been asked to make can’t rely on predicting the future. The fate of Israel and the Jewish people is too important to be decided by speculation or a roll of the dice. The only factors that count are the bitter experiences of history – including the last three and one-half years of Barack Hussein Obama’s reign.
Still, you find it tempting to daydream “what if” based on the outcome of America’s election. If Obama wins, Pharaoh’s heart is not going to be softened. Israel can expect the man to double his efforts to back Israel into a corner and make it difficult-to-impossible for her to neutralize the Iranian nuclear threat without help. After all, Obama would no longer need Jewish money.
If Romney wins on November 6th, there’s no telling what Obama might do while he runs the country in “no man’s land” unshackled with nothing to lose. Under those circumstances, the Ayatollahs will draw a similar conclusion and have every incentive to speed up the demons’ work freed of the bothersome ruse to keep it secret from the world. Moreover, if Israel chooses to hold off until Romney gets the keys to the Oval Office, and Romney wobbles for any reason, the “timeline” gets revised and now tells you by then it could be too late.
On the other hand, during the critical period before the election, which is where we are today, Obama is forced to bottle-up his bile. While he needs Jewish votes and gelt, his hands are tied until November 7th. By the process of elimination, that makes our military planner’s recommendation much clearer. The time to go is between now and then.
