NASA flies Texas flag upside down.................from Steve
Steve writes: Theo,
Today NASA flew the final flight of the space shuttle Endeavour into Houston on
the back of a company 747. After landing at Ellington Air Force Base
the pilot of the 747 popped a hatch from the cockpit and flew the
Texas flag, the flag was upside down as in the international signal of
"distress". Was this on purpose, what was the pilot trying to say? The
local television commentators from Houston, Texas were mum on the fact
as they pointed out that the pilot was flying the Texas flag. It was
all being portrayed as a proud moment for Texas as a chapter in space
flight history was coming to a close. I don't have answers, just
questions. Is there more to this story?

An Israeli Strike: What's in it For Us?.................from Dan Friedman
From Daniel Goldman (a.k.a. Spengler) in the Asia Times:
Absent an Israeli strike, America faces:
A nuclear-armed Iran;
Iraq's continued drift towards alliance with Iran;
An overtly hostile regime in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood government will lean on jihadist elements to divert attention from the country's economic collapse;
An Egyptian war with Libya for oil and with Sudan for water;
A radical Sunni regime controlling most of Syria, facing off an Iran-allied Alawistan ensconced in the coastal mountains;
A de facto or de jure Muslim Brotherhood takeover of the Kingdom of Jordan;
A campaign of subversion against the Saudi monarchy by Iran through Shi'ites in Eastern Province and by the Muslim Brotherhood internally;
A weakened and perhaps imploding Turkey struggling with its Kurdish population and the emergence of Syrian Kurds as a wild card;
A Taliban-dominated Afghanistan; and
Radicalized Islamic regimes in Libya and Tunisia.

Jimmy's REAL legacy....................from Rico
You can say what you like about Jimmy Carter (I certainly do), but everyone seems to have completely "missed" his REAL legacy.
- The WIMPY nation.
Thanks to Jimmuh, America abandoned 'thrift & saving' in favor of 'spending & borrowing.'
- Living within their means or with the consequences of poor decisions was 'too hard' and the illusion of credit-fueled 'fake wealth' was 'too easy.'
Enter the Central Banks.
- CTRL+P solves everything today with a rapid depreciation of the currency...until tomorrow arrives.
Back to J. Wellington Wimpy, and his famous "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
- Like Wimpy, America is HOPEing Tuesday never comes.
As for Barry Whatever-his-true-name-is's REAL legacy, it is still being written but we already have a pretty clear idea of what it will be.
- Whatever it 'is' (h/t to Slick Willie here) it won't be good.
