More NonCents From Congress Today...............from Rico

Only the clowns in Congress could come up with an idea to make American pocket change even MORE worthless than it already is.

Why? To 'save' the government money, of course. They estimate they can 'save' about $2 billion over the next ten years. Of course, they are careful not to mention that their savings come at the public's expense.
- How about not spending money you do not have, you morons?

The "Cents and Sensibility Act" (Stivers, R-OH) has been reintroduced.
- Currently, pennies are copper-washed zinc, and nickels-dimes-quarters are respectively nickel and nickel-clad copper.
- The Stivers Bill calls for all four coins to be made from steel, with the penny copper-washed.

A generation ago, most circulating US coinage was made from Silver (except the penny which was solid copper), and the Dollar was redeemable in Silver.
- To 'save' money, the government 'cheapened' the value of the coinage, and then like today, kept it 'looking' the same while avoiding the point that their savings was at a cost to the public. The unredeemable Federal Reserve Note also replaced what were redeemable Silver Certificates.

"Not worth a plugged nickel."
Only a professional politician could think it was a swell idea to turn coins into plugs.
- When coins had value, "plugs" (not to be confused with Joe Biden's post hair transplant nickname) were holes bored into coins and then filled with a cheaper metal.

Thanks Congress! You have come full-circle and now propose to make all coins into entirely worthless PLUGS. Skipping the 'boring' part.....
