Obama Wins World Chess Championship
Booger-Eatin' Stinker, or Chess Champ?
Hungarian grandmaster Judit Polgar noted the world championship is just the latest in a string of triumphs for the American president. She cited his receipt two years ago of the Nobel Peace Prize. That award — for which Obama was nominated just a few weeks into his presidency, and a mere five years after he held the title of state senator in Illinois — was only the first in a series of accolades to come his way.
It was followed several months later when the International Mathematical Union bestowed on Obama the Fields Medal, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Mathematics. The Fields is supposed to be given to individuals not over 40 years of age. The prize committee decided to waive the requirement, said the IMU's László Lovász, because some members had seen a "60 Minutes" interview in which Obama had done a rough percentage calculation in his head, and were impressed. It is a matter of grave consternation to our "progresives" that the +90 million gun owners in America are not already dead! They want to take away your guns in order to protect you from shooting yourselves, your family members, and possibly someone trying to break into your home or apartment.
For some odd reason, criminals seem to have paid insufficient attention to all the government warnings about the danger of guns, and rather insist upon using guns whenever possible in robberies and drug deals gone bad.
You must appreciate that our brave and fearless legislators and bureaucrats are quite exhausted from trying to pass laws against guns, regulating them, and generally getting between you and guns.
- All for your own good, of course. Sadly, you and I are too dumb to recognize this.

Some who ran across the few news items concerning "Capmark" going bankrupt may have just thought "so? Just one more entity gone bust among many these days. Ho-hum. Who's on Prancing with the Stars? I wonder...."
Remember GMAC? GMAC's former commercial real estate business (now long gone) became Capmark Financial Group.
Capmark is one of the largest commercial real estate lenders in the US.
After witnessing the collapse of the residential mortgage market, are we now seeing the start of the collapse of the business property market? Perhaps. Steep losses on these loans lie just ahead of us.....

ANNUIT COEPTIS - we're in trouble now.............from Rico
Ten states in the US contributed 55% of the national GDP. Six of those 10 states have unemployment rates over 10% (these are the jiggered "official" reported figures, which are low...by about, say, half).
In 2008 the US GDP was $14.6 triliion. Ten states provided $7.89 trillion of that amount ---
the other 40 states $6.71 trillion.
- Drilling-down further, the top five states contributed 40% of the GDP.
Will smaller states (also dealing with high unemployment) pick up the slack, or take the strain? [Forgive my nautical terminology here, but sailors will know exactly what I mean by this.]
Twenty-seven million [?] unemployed and under-employed people have to be asking themselves where the Hell that $13 trillion in bail-outs went. It sure didn't go to create jobs for them!
On a brighter note, I recommend the PUMA Index to you. You can pick the equities market to watch, and IF it is "tanking" that day, the host model loses clothing (until reaching her Puma bodywear)...so, as they say, at least while YOU are losing your shirt so are they!

Relativism and OIL?....................from Rico
Relativism. That beloved concept of the progressives. Nothing is right or wrong, good or bad, true or false.
Anyone who remembers that (a) Jimmy Carter's solution to our energy problem was to wear a sweater on TV and tell us to bravely suffer and set our thermostats lower because his Department Of Energy would 'free' us of depenence on foreign oil, and (b) it was the WORST thing in the MSM's world when the price of oil hit $70/bbl under that "rich oil man" Bush, is also fully aware that (c) both a & b were complete crap, and (d) the MSM has been really-really quiet about the recent run-up to $80/bbl oil (as they have been mute on ObaMao's insistence the oval office temp. be kept well-above 80F*).
In case you happen to know any "progressive" Democrats (C), I made the above 'simple' so you could explain it to them while helping them button their sweaters and wipe their chins.
*"What is good for ME is NOT for thee" seems to be the overarching message of this administration, but the MSM a.k.a. The Minsitry of Truth hasn't figured out quite how to sell this on TV for mass consumption...yet.
