4th Annual International Army & Police Exhibition in Tel Aviv

I attended the 4th Annual International Army & Police Exhibition in Tel Aviv on Monday.

Here are some of the photos from my report.

Because of the amount of ambient light in the showroom, it worked with a pinhole in the lens cap, so you look kinda silly trying it out (see above), but it still works great with the cap on...

The majority is almost always wrong..........from Rico

The majority, the crowd, conventional wisdom...the herd is almost always wrong.

So far in 2010, gold has only attracted $5.4 billion worth of US private investment...while $155 billion has flowed into bonds.

The talking heads-teleprompter readers are calling gold a 'bubble' while these numbers show just the opposite. But the 'herd' still sees CD's, bonds, and managed investments as 'safe' (chortle-guffaw-gasp). These same folks probably completely trust their banks and the good intentions of their government, too. Hell, some of them probably believe that Socialism would 'work' if only the right people were in charge.
Suckahs!!!
- These paper assets are loaded with counterparty risk...with the RISK writ large. Banks fail, and governments default (after raiding the savings of its subjects either overtly by seizing their money - think Argentina, or covertly by inflating away the purchasing power of its currency).

This never ends well, and it'll be NO different this time.

Government defined - incompetent, unreliable, untrustworthy..........from Rico

The Bloomberg CPI Chart from 1950-2010 is INFLATION, the inflation that the gov't does NOT want you to see or be aware of.
- Hell, if there's NO inflation, then there don't need to be any COLA increases to our retiree's living on Social Security. Jiggering the offishul numbers saves Uncle Sam a bunch of money and allows him to wisely spend more money on things more important than old people (the suckers who paid into SS their working lives and trusted gov't to do the 'right' thing).

The VALUE (purchasing power) of the Federal Reserve Notes called 'Dollars' declines as the supply of Dollars increases.
- The future does not look good for the Dollar.

So WHY is this man smiling?
- Is it because we now have enough people who are even dumber than the government? [read: incompetent, unreliable, untrustworthy]
OR
- Is it because the FED will soon become the largest foreign creditor to the US Gov't (essentially the US buying its own debt), knocking the Chinese into second place?

It's a good thing I have my own retirement plan

AR-15 Modified to Shoot a .50 BMG Round — UPDATE!!

An update from Glenn Reynolds:

HERE’S MORE on that Zel Custom .50 rifle I mentioned Friday. Considering its immense power and impressive size, it’s really pretty easy to shoot. Shouldering it is work, since it weighs something like 35-40 pounds. On the other hand, all that weight smooths out the recoil, too, so the felt kick isn’t so bad — roughly comparable to a 12 gauge shotgun, I’d say. And, of course, it’s not really meant to be fired from the shoulder. Note that it’s actually a bolt-action, with a side-mounted box magazine. Here’s a closeup:

.50 BMG Round

For contrast, notice that "little" round there, a .45 cartridge, which is large for a handgun.

Game Show Hostess Can Deliver Some Shock and Awe

Sabotage in Iran

A massive fire is raging in the storage facility of Iran's Shahab-3 ballistic missiles. According to online sources, the site was top secret and housed most of the Shehab-3 missile launchers that Iran had stocked for striking US forces in Iraq and Israel in the event of war - some even set to deliver triple warheads.
