I dare say there's a wind. The takeoff looks like a PA-18, maybe with more HP than the 145 or so I think you could get as an option (most came with a Continental 90).
On landing, a wheel landing stops fastest because you get the brakes on the ground exactly where you want. He could stop even faster with a stall landing under power but it's hard to do precisely.
At the Westland field many years ago I watched a pilot in an army Auster land on the circular concrete pad that his mates flying helicopters used, about 60ft diameter..... smartarse !

Captain Haddock: it's the old debate about lift - is it generated by the wing moving through air or air moving over the wing? The Culver Channel Wing and, to an extent the A-10, demonstrate the latter effect.
