This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission.
The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.
Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a
chopper down on the roof top of a shack, on a steep mountain cliff, and hold
it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear.

It's men like this that the left revile as heartless killers..it shows them up as the cowards and traitors they are.
Reminds me much of the famous Saigon, Vietnam, evacuation photo...
Chinooks are sometimes used to deliver supplies to Navy ships that are too small for them to land. They use the technique shown here, except they cut off power to the rear rotor, and just use the front rotor to fly along with the moving ship. This is safer for the crew unloading the supplies, and saves fuel.
I read about this when I was working at the Naval Research Laboratory.
I saw a picture almost exactly like this, It was in California and they were taking out injured mountain climbers.
