Trouble is that although it is fatal for the sniper it is also fatal for Muslim/Coalition relations. By deliberately positioning their snipers on mosques the invite fire that destroys the mosque which in turn alienates the indiginous population. They do the same with schools by firing mortars and rockets from nearby, hoping to encourage return fire that will cause civilian casualties. Although I appreciate and admire the success of our forces in killing these gangsters I am deeply upset by the destruction of places of worship - of any faith.

How would we feel if a typical English village church was destroyed in this way?

If the mosques get damaged then maybe the imans and worshippers will begin to take action to keep the snipers out. As I understand it, in many Iraqi communities, local militia are taking action against terrorists or informing Coalition forces of the whereabouts of terrorists. Also, we help pay for/repair damage done in battle.
