Richard Warman suing Canadian Conservative Bloggers

Five Feet of Fury and the rest need our support. Apparently this pathetic excuse for a lawyer wants to ban freedom of speech. He should f**k off to China where he will feel right at home. Canadian Laws are based on British Laws and guess what. A little thing called The Magna Carta gave us freedom of speech.

Thanks Theo!

Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms does limit the absolute right to political speech.

Good luck to all involved and maybe Canada will amend their laws to protect political speech...

This guy is a piece of work, he's trying to take out freedominion for being "an extreme right wing site"....that's their crime, being conservative..... Dude, I hear China has some job, I mean, collective openings, maybe you could squash some Tibetans....

It's been years since Canada was a free country. Why get upset about the natural progression of your progessive progress now?

Sorry, Theo, but you are wrong !!

Read Private Eye, and find out how the 'freedom of speech' laws in the US of A are being OVERTURNED by the far more stringent libel laws in the UK.

If a book has been sold in the UK [even just a few copies] on Amazon, a 'libelled' person can go to the court in London and demand that the book be pulped, even if 99.9 % of sales have been in America. It is a scandal, but the lawyers know how to work the system.

It may not happen for another five hundred years but at some point we will declare open-season on lawyers, put bounties on their heads, and use their humus for feeding worms...

Looks like a Mao suit. Yes our freedoms are going away. We will be lucky if we have free speech 10 years from now. The British are joining the EU, so they will not have freedom anymore.
With China giving/loaning money to the US soon we will have to do what they say!

We right wing Nut Jobs in the USA, while cherishing the heritage of Magna Carta and Common Law, believe that Freedom of speech, and other Rights, come not from the deeds of men, but from the Creator.

But it takes people's constant vigilance to defend these rights!

Canada needs guns;) Failing that a friendly invasion by the US is in order.

A recent court ruling in NY dubbed Rachel's Law prevents UK rulings of slander from applying to US authors and publications.
The Canadian national Human Rights Commission (CHRC) along with provincial versions of the same are providing ample fodder for legal testings of limits to free expression. We shall see how it all plays out.

Isn't that just the most beautiful flying machine ever?

Whilst absolutely onside on the substantive issues I feel I need to make a couple of minor points of information.

Freedom of speech was first enshrined in the Bill of Rights 1688 not Magna Carta (whose only reference to speech was to enable the King to force people to take an oath against their will)

Secondly, we were not "given" that right, our ancestors won it by dint of the Glorious Revolution.

Liberties are never given, only taken - one Lucy Warman being the latest proof of that.

Good luck & more power to everyone's elbow!

I bet American and European bloggers can mock Warman right into a straight jacket.

This fellow in the HRC, Richard Warman, sounds like a totally wonderful human being who doesn’t have a huge chip on his shoulder or one evil bone in his whole fair-minded body.

He doesn’t at all sound like a sick and demented bastard who is angry and bitter because he got his butt massively kicked in those elections years ago.

absurd thought -
God of the Universe likes
human rights commissions

that violate human rights
while claiming to protect them

absurd thought -
God of the Universe hates
real freedom of speech

an American concept
which is NOT for Canada

Why Does Canada Allow This?
