This will Mess With Your Head.

3 WOMEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS £30, SO
EACH WOMAN PAID £10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY £25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GALS ROOM WITH £5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT £5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 WOMEN, SO HE GAVE EACH WOMAN A £1 AND KEPT THE OTHER £2 FOR
HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 WOMEN EACH PAID £9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
£27, ADD THE £2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = £29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER POUND?

The three women paid 9 each + got 1 back in change each. That's 30. The price of the room is 25 + the bell boy got 2 tip. That's the 27 the three women paid.

You are comparing apples, pears and oranges.

The women ended up paying £9 each, add the £1 they each were refunded and that makes £30.

The Hotel received £25 (3x£10 less £5)

The bellboy received £2.

They are separate amounts, there is no missing £.

if you have 30, take away the 3 given to the women and the 2 that the bell boy took, that equals 25...just like it should.

Gordon Brown got the pound plus VAT on the rooms plus income tax from the motel staff plus corporation tax from the motel and it all disappeared.
