In the last major Social Security legislation of the 20th century, CONgress voted to TAX Social Security benefits in 1983. [This was extended in 1993.]
1983 House:
163 Democrats YES, 54 Democrats NO
80 Republicans YES, 48R NO
1983 Senate:
26 Democrats YES, 6 Democrats NO
32 Republicans YES, 8 Republicans NO
Fast-forward to July 2025's Big Beautiful Bill.
2025 House: [voting to concur with the Senate's 1 July amendment*]
217 Republicans YES, 2 Republicans NO
0 Democrats YES, 212 Democrats NO
*2025 Senate:
3 Republicans joined ALL Democrats to vote NO creating a 50-50 stalemate with VP Vance breaking the tie with his vote YES.
Now let's 'see' how this actually works out tax-wise.
My take away on this is:
- The Senate has three members who are in reality Democrats and NOT Republicans; ALL Democrats in both the House and Senate are cocksuckers.
