My first car cost me $200.
- It was a 1957 Pontiac Chieftan bought from my neighbor Tiny Johnson who was the owner of my hometown's "Tiny's Hot Dogs" (est 1947).
[I still 'miss' his chili-dawgs].
- It was built like a tank, cheap, cheap to drive, and cheap to fix.
- Early on there were used-car 'upgrades' along the way, but they all (even the 1965 T-bird convert) rea$onable to buy, drive, and fix.
No ma$! Those days are gone.
Cars now cost more than my first house did, and they are Faberge Egg fragile, Faberge Egg expensive to buy, and Faberge Egg expensive to fix.
- Five figures left of the decimal for a cheaply built but nosebleed-expensive to fix plain plastic eggshell on wheels (but with a swell entertainment system and backup cameras)? NO THANKS!
