SKUNKS hiding in the open.........from Rico
What I see when I look at this photo is a clear depiction of our political "skunks" pretending to be other than what they really are.
- Hiding in plain sight, hoping they can bamboozle the voters and fog their reality for them.
I surely HOPE that enough of the electorate put on their 'glasses' so they can see these are not nice widdle puddy-tats after all, and throw them....no, chase them with a broomhandle right outta here!
- If this fails to be done by clear-thinking voters at the ballot box, those of us who do already clearly see what is going on will have to break out the spotting scopes to effect some real CHANGE......

'A Pledge to America'
The video's from House GOP Conference Vice-Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA). It's a good one. Yet the Republicans' new "contract" with the American people is more far reaching, "Boehner’s governing platform centers on repealing Obamacare, rolling back of tax increases and regulation."
House Minority Leader John Boehner and the House Republican leadership are set to unveil Thursday their agenda for governing, with an emphasis on repealing President Obama’s health care overhaul and reining in tax increases and regulation.I'm reading the document now (in PDF). I don't pay too much attention to these things anyway. Parties make pledges all the time. And they often keep their pledges. But they sometimes abandon them as well. What matters to me is focusing on a few key issues, especially those that relate to holding firm on government expansion. Controlling spending and stimulating job growth with tax cuts would be a good place to start. The contract will not abandon social issues, which is good. But Republicans would be wise to avoid the Obama administration's pitfalls. Focus like a laser beam on job creation and spending reductions. With a congressional majority Republicans will be able to stand firm against the social destruction of the Democratic-left. The real business on social issues will be when the GOP again controls the White House (and thus judicial appointments).
The plan came under immediate criticism from congressional Democrats but also was brutally savaged by some leading conservatives. The full document can be read here.
Erick Erickson, founder of RedState.com, called the proposal “dreck.”
“The entirety of this Promise is laughable. Why? It is an illusion that fixates on stuff the GOP already should be doing while not daring to touch on stuff that will have any meaningful longterm effects on the size and scope of the federal government,” Erickson wrote.
“This document proves the GOP is more focused on the acquisition of power than the advocacy of long term sound public policy,” he said.
But National Review, one of the two leading conservative magazines in Washington, had praise for the document, deeming it “bolder” than the 1994 “Contract with America.”
“The pledge is explicitly a beginning to the lengthy task of providing conservative governance, and a very good one,” the magazine’s editors wrote. “It is also a shrewd political document.”
Republicans have the choicest electoral --- and hence policy --- environment in decades. I think John Boehner's a smart cookie, so we'll see. I'm going skim over this document a bit more. Perhaps there's a plank on avoiding hubris?

'God Will Be Trailing at the Rear of Your Battalions'
Following the recent flame war, I found my name slurred with the most vile racist comment at one of the leftist hate-blogs. And as I write at the conclusion of my response:
I know the moral clarity that is my trademark. Such hatred only strengthens me for the fight ahead. Conservatives are turning the tide against the left, showing that ideology for its bankrupt destruction. So stay with me friends and readers. The journey is long, but always rewarding. Fight for the good and God will be trailing at the rear of your battalions. And that's always good to know, my source of supreme righteousness and confidence.Check that link. And as always, I'm fighting the good fight at American Power.

Good Retort......
The following comment from former GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson
came in response to Obama's contention Monday that his Republican opponents
"talk about me like a dog."
Obama: "Some people in DC 'talk about me like a dog.'"
Thompson wrote on his Twitter feed (@FredThompson). "Maybe it's because he
keeps treating this country like a fire hydrant."

NEW Air Force Project
Air Force General: Mr. President, we've just invented an invisibility cloak for Air Force One. Air Force One is now invisible, insuring your security in the face of growing hostility.
Obama: No SH*T?
General: That's right, sir. Will you be going along on its maiden flight?
Obama: Why I wouldn't miss this for the world!
General: Have a good trip, sir!

President Ahmedinejad Threatens U.S. With War 'Without Boundaries'
It's a fascinating thing in politics and culture when the sexist remarks of the Democratic Senate Majority Leader get bigger buzz-play than Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's threats of an epic holocaust against the United States. But that's the nature of partisanship these days, especially on the left, where so many socialist lackeys see the U.S. and Israel as the greatest threats to world peace. No surprise, I guess. And this shouldn't be either: "Ahmedinejad Threatens War 'Without Boundaries'."
Plus additional headlines (on the sexist remarks and the failure of repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell") at American Power.

EU hypocrisy!..............from Filippo
The French Government has recently enacted a law providing for the forced repatriation - that is a paid ticket and a small allowance for the trouble - of Romas without jobs, without residence permit and without any legal means of subsistence.
This has aroused the indignation and hypocritical condemnation of the European Commissioner for Justice Viviae Reding who had the nerve and
bad taste to compare the measures to the deportations carried by the Nazis during the Second World War. Note that the Commissioner is from Luxembourg, a country where Romas are barred from entering.
The outburst of this brilliant lady, bad taste aside, was also shared by the President of the EU and several european government, as well as from the U.S., which is building a wall to defend the border with Mexico against illegal immigrants .
The EU, always very quick to impose rules and regulations to define the optimal size of bananas and cucumbers, and address the fate of octopus and cuttlefish, never wanted to seek a common solution to deal with the issue of uncontrolled immigration.
Each time countries most affected by this problem - Italy, France and Spain - take unilateral measures in this respect, they are immediatley labelled as racist.
As President Sarkozy said: "If you don't like our measures, why don't you take them".
Hypocritical EU!

Over 50 and Unemployed: Will they ever work again?.....from Rico
This has been one of my 'concerns' for a number of years now.
Having watched "free trade" shift jobs overseas from Clinton, through Bush, and into the Obama-Soetoro years it is clear that the way for "international" business to make money is to produce in the country with the lowest labor cost, re-import the product into the US and 'mark' it up for the profit at point-of-sale.
- Meanwhile the Unions are getting screwed and do not know it, while the consuming (and ever-increasingly unemployed public DO know it...they just do not understand the "why?").
And that is why you have no jobs, and may never again!
IF you are over-50 and unemployed in THIS scenario, you may never work again. Welcome to the soft-slavery of Government subsidies and handouts. There ain't gonna be any pay-stubs or W-2's in your future. You are already RETIRED but don't yet know it!!
