Ground Zero: Syria (Part 6) - The Bombing of Aleppo's Dar al-Shifa Hospital

On November 21, Aleppo's Dar al-Shifa Hospital was bombed and destroyed by the Syrian Army. This is the same makeshift hospital where, weeks ago, VICE and videographer Robert King reported on human rights abuses and war crimes against patients (including children) being treated inside. It was completely leveled by the rocket
attack, and Robert was on the scene to document the fallout.

Let's dance..................from Rico

OK, the DTC 'flooding' a month ago during Sandy and all those paper certificates being water-logged in their Manhattan vault was one thing.

Today is quite something else, and the collars don't match the cuffs.

CME announced that it's Manfra (MBT) bullion depository can't deliver bullion right now because of Sandy (force majeure).
- Sandy was a month ago. What? No sump pumps available? Does it take longer than a month to 'rig' some tungsten-filled delivery bars?
- Manfra is a bullion depository. Metal, not paper.
- Manfra is next door to the NY Fed that says its vaults 80 ft underground and 50 ft below sea-level are operating just fine (unless you're Deutsche Bank and want a look at your Gold).
- Followers of Harvey Organ know that Manfra has been 'busy' all month, at least according to their daily-reported accounting activity.

How very convenient for our Cartel, especially since today is both Gold and Silver expiry on CME's COMEX, and Friday is First Day notice.
- 'Sorry old bean, can't deliver physical just now. Water-logged. Sandy, you know, harrumph! That's a good chap, be patient for a while.'

Of course, the inconvenience and extra cost of taking delivery from another CME facility wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with 'discouraging' anyone standing for physical delivery right now.
- Nawwww! Say it ain't so!

Perfect example of the Cartel's "two step" dance, or is this like the song 'gimme two steps towards the door?'
- Or, is it instead one more 'indicator' of a squeeze on physical supply?

Access market games 11/26................from Rico

I had been 'expecting' some games from the bullion Cartel, and they did NOT disappoint. Again.
- Here are two "flash smashes" in the access market to consider, regular trading having stopped many hours earlier with Gold spot closing at $1751.10 and Silver spot at $34.22.

Of course, it is merely a 'coincidence' that both Gold and Silver options expiry on the COMEX is 11/27, with First Notice on Friday 11/30.
- It's not affectionately known as the CRIMEX for nothing, but it IS the reason I stopped playing 'options roulette' on this massively rigged table some time ago.

While the paper markets are being visibly 'managed' this is NOT the same thing as the physical supply being 'controlled'.....

What The Political Gurus Kept Telling Us

By Alan Caruba

Throughout the year leading up to the November elections, I had a friend who called regularly for reassurance that whoever the Republicans nominated would defeat Obama. I began to keep a file of what the political commentators had to say on the subject. Suffice to say, I ended up convinced that Romney could not lose.

An article by Mark Knoller, CBS News White House correspondent, on December 31, 2010 is a good place to start. “No numbers in the year just ending are more consequential for President Obama than the results of the midterm elections. His party lost seats in the Senate and its majority in the House.” Like many, I concluded that Obama’s reversal of fortune would be reflected in 2012.

By April 2011, however, a Wall Street Journal article noting that Mitt Romney was the early front-runner for the Republican nomination reported that “Some 43% of 1,000 adults polled said they would probably vote for Mr. Obama, versus 39% who said they would likely vote Republican, a five-point lead that is unchanged from February.” I should have paid more attention, but didn’t. I would have voted for the GOP candidate if he was Charlie Sheen.

For the political junkies, the full article can be read at:

Ashura, Islam's Yom Kippur..................from Dan Friedman

Let’s have no more hateful talk of “savages” or “savagery.” Who are we to judge? Every man and woman has a right to worship his Creator in any way they want. Jews fast, Christians have ashes applied their foreheads, and Muslims...well...they do their thing too.
Here are scenes from yesterdays festivities surrounding the Islamic holy day of Ashura – a Muslim holiday when the whole family gets in on the fun. Oh, BTW, Ashura’s quaint customs have made their contribution to our culture too. It’s the origin of the idiom “whipping oneself into a frenzy.”
